Furnace Heating Prices Make Wood and Other Heating Sources Attractive People saw large increases in their heating costs last year and that trend is set to continue this winter. With gas and oil prices expected to raise between 30-50%  compared with last winter homeowners are becoming concerned and making plans to reduce the financial strain.  One  surprising development is the increased interest in wood and even coal  as heating fuel.  Today wood and coal are often considered outdated or to be used in remote areas where natural gas and heating oil are not  readily available. However, Renovation Experts.com  recently published a report* that shows wood fireplaces in new construction going up from .5% to 3% compared to last year at the same time.
