What is radon? Radon is a colorless, oderless, and tasteless gas that is naturally found in rock and soil. So, how does it get into your house if it's found in rock and soil? Radon seeps into the home through cracks in your home's foundation and/or basement. Cinder block walls are also likely to allow radon into your home as the material is naturally porus. What does radon do? Radon is a radioactive gas and is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer. In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General has gone on record to say that more than 20,000 Americans die each year from radon-related lung cancer! Clearly the health risk is real and something that shoud be taken seriously. What can you do about radon? Testing is the most important thing you can do and luckily itsn't expensive.
