Insulate Your Outlets
The insulation in your house's exterior walls is interrupted by electrical outlets and light switches. Here's how to insulate those spots and keep them from leaking heated air: 1. Buy insulating foam seals from a hardware store or home center. They're usually displayed among the home-weatherization products. 2. Take the cover plate off the outlet or switch by removing the screw or screws that hold it in place. 3. Slip the foam gasket behind the cover, and replace the cover. 4. For multiple switches or receptacles, you can overlap or cut the foam to fit. -- MARY BETH BRECKENRIDGE Idea from The Beacon Journal |
