Improve Indoor Air Quality
There are lots of things in a typical home that can cause air quality concerns, but making a home energy-efficient is one way to minimize many of these potential dangers. Leaking ductwork in a building can be bringing in dust, pollen and other pollutants from the attic, garage or the outdoors. Cleaning products kept under cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom might be releasing fumes into the air. Cooking smoke and odors from the kitchen can flow through the entire house. Pesticides around the house can contain all kinds of chemicals. Just using your vacuum cleaner can be moving pollutants from one room to another. And even the furniture and the basic building materials can be giving off potentially dangerous compounds. If you're still indoors after reading the above, then consider that the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute has said that air pollution inside a home can actually be 10 times greater than the levels outdoors. But a few simple steps can cut down on the problem: Check out the Steps. |
