Do It Yourself Snowman

Just a bit of fun!

Do it Yourself Snowman

With gleaming eyes he examines it from all sides. Excitedly he thinks: how clever! They have used the hat itself as the container that holds all the other items.

Such a lot of items! His work is cut out for him.

The items are listed on a sticker on the plastic cover that keeps them from falling out of the hat, which is the first item on the list.

The second is a scarf.

The third a nose.

The fourth is two eyes.

The fifth is six buttons.

It's the Do-It-Yourself Snowman Kit.

He bought it at Loblaws; $9.98.

He empties the contents on the kitchen table.

The hat. Black. Felt. Floppy. The ideal hat for a snowman.

The scarf. Wool. Red-and-green plaid. He doesn't know for sure, but guesses it's the Ginzberg tartan. How jaunty it will look!

The nose is long and pointed. Orange like a carrot! Imagine a carrot made of cloth!

The eyes are as black as coal. The pupils are off-centre. Depending on how he places them they can be cross-eyed, or walleyed, or any cockeyed way he wants. His imagination is already running wild.

The six buttons are — uh-oh. The six buttons are confusing. All the same shape and fuzziness, but one is yellow, one's green, one's blue, and three are pink.

How's this supposed to work?
